«The Forget Tomorrow World Tour»: Justin Timberlake à son meilleur

Justin Timberlake a déployé le grand jeu pour le Centre Bell, vendredi soir, où il a arrêté sa tournée mondiale The Forget Tomorrow World Tour.
Il y célébrait par la même occasion son anniversaire de mariage avec la comédienne Jessica Biel, avec qui il est marié depuis 14 ans. Cette dernière était d’ailleurs présente dans l’assistance.
Accompagné de ses «Tennessee Kids», ses 11 musiciens – dont une section de cuivres – et choristes, le chanteur a revisité sa musicographie en passant en revue ses titres à succès comme les incontournables Cry Me a River, Summer Love et Can’t Stop the Feeling, ainsi que quelques-unes de ses nouvelles pièces, pendant près de deux heures.
Il était tout juste passé 21h quand l’artiste est apparu sur scène sur les airs de Memphis et de No Angels.
Environ le tiers des pièces jouées pendant le concert appartenaient à son plus récent album, Everything I Thought It Was. Un album que les spectateurs du Centre Bell ont pris la peine d’apprendre par cœur avant leur rendez-vous avec le chanteur et comédien vendredi soir.
Showman accompli – dont la réputation n’est vraiment plus à faire –, l’ex-membre de NSYNC n’a rien perdu de ses qualités de danseur, étant toujours aussi précis et vif dans ses mouvements. Un écran géant, presque aussi vaste que haut, s’étendant de gauche à droite sur la glace des Canadiens, a ajouté une dimension supplémentaire à ses performances, durant lesquelles il est toujours accompagné de danseurs. Des paysages désertiques, des effets d’optique, des projections d’allure «psychédélique» et la captation du spectacle y étaient projetés, parfois en simultané.
Une sorte de monolithe rectangulaire, faisant office d’écran mobile, sur lequel Justin Timberlake est monté à un certain moment, est apparu à la fin du premier tiers du concert. Cet élément scénique supplémentaire a permis de varier les projections, faisant aussi bien défiler des images 3D que recréant une gigantesque vasque d’eau dans laquelle était pris le chanteur.
L’artiste américain semblait être en pleine forme, souriant et interagissant avec les gens au parterre. Il a même récupéré au passage le cadeau qu’une admiratrice lui avait apporté, sur lequel était inscrite une petite pensée pour le remercier de s’être arrêté à Montréal.
«Ça faisait tellement longtemps, Montréal! J’avais presque oublié à quel point vous étiez amusants», a-t-il lancé au public lors de sa première intervention.
Il est ensuite descendu dans la foule, en interprétant Play, avec une partie de ses danseurs et de ses choristes pour atteindre une scène secondaire, où il a entre autres repris Suit and Tie et Say Something.
Une version piano-voix de My Love, dont les envolées vocales du chanteur américain et de ses choristes – qui se renvoyaient la balle de la note la plus haute – ont été célébrées par les spectateurs, tandis que l’enchaînement des titres Selfish, en version acoustique, et de What Goes Around... Comes Around n’a laissé personne indifférent. De même que le segment final avec Rock Your Body, Sexy Back et Mirrors – assurément l’un des préférés du public – a transformé le Centre Bell en karaoké.
Démêlés avec la justice
Le chanteur et acteur de 43 ans a été condamné récemment à des travaux d’intérêt général, en plus d’écoper d’une amende de 500 dollars, pour conduite en état d’ébriété dans les Hamptons, en juin dernier.
Il s’est excusé publiquement lors de son audience et a partagé un message de sensibilisation sur ses réseaux sociaux.

Justin Timberlake pulled out all the stops at the Bell Centre on Friday night, where he stopped off his Forget Tomorrow World Tour.
He also celebrated his wedding anniversary with actress Jessica Biel, to whom he has been married for 14 years. The latter was also present in the audience.
Accompanied by his "Tennessee Kids", his 11 musicians - including a brass section - and backing singers, the singer revisited his musicography by reviewing his hit titles such as the essential Cry Me a River , Summer Love and Can't Stop the Feeling , as well as some of his new pieces, for nearly two hours.
It was just past 9pm when the artist appeared on stage to the tunes of Memphis and No Angels .
About a third of the songs played during the concert were from his most recent album, Everything I Thought It Was . An album that the Bell Centre audience took the trouble to learn by heart before their date with the singer and actor Friday night.
A consummate showman – whose reputation is truly well established – the former member of NSYNC has lost none of his dancing skills, remaining as precise and lively in his movements as ever. A giant screen, almost as large as it is high, extending from left to right over the Canadiens' ice rink, added an extra dimension to his performances, during which he is always accompanied by dancers. Desert landscapes, optical effects, "psychedelic" projections and the recording of the show were projected, sometimes simultaneously.
A sort of rectangular monolith, acting as a mobile screen, on which Justin Timberlake climbed at a certain point, appeared at the end of the first third of the concert. This additional stage element allowed for a variety of projections, both scrolling 3D images and recreating a gigantic basin of water in which the singer was caught.
The American artist seemed to be in great shape, smiling and interacting with the people in the stalls. He even picked up the gift that an admirer had brought him, on which was written a little thought to thank him for stopping in Montreal.
“It’s been so long, Montreal! I almost forgot how much fun you guys are,” he told the audience during his first performance.
He then went down into the crowd, performing Play , with some of his dancers and backing singers to reach a secondary stage, where he covered Suit and Tie and Say Something , among others .
A piano-vocal version of My Love , whose vocal flights by the American singer and his backing singers – who played the highest note back and forth – were celebrated by the audience, while the succession of songs Selfish , in an acoustic version, and What Goes Around... Comes Around left no one indifferent. Likewise, the final segment with Rock Your Body , Sexy Back and Mirrors – certainly one of the audience's favourites – transformed the Bell Centre into a karaoke bar.
Troubles with the law
The 43-year-old singer and actor was recently sentenced to community service and a $500 fine for drunk driving in the Hamptons last June.
He publicly apologized during his hearing and shared an awareness message on his social media.
